Script Experience Days 2011 - 2012
December 1st, February 3rd , March 6th, July 11th & 12th
These days have been designed to develop the Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) of our students. The PLTS focus on students developing these skills so they become
Self Managers
Creative Thinkers
Reflective Learners
Independent Enquirers
Effective Participators and
Team workers
hence the acronym SCRIPT
The days have been collaboratively planned by our staff teams in cross curricular groups and the key themes for
- Years 9 are Ecoday, Health, Cultural Diversity, Creativity and Enterprise
- Year 10 are ICT, Community, Self Esteem, Careers and Relationships
- In Years 11 and 12 will follow separate programmes that are appropriate and relevant for their needs and stage of development but still focus on the PLTS
The key themes will be explored across the course of the year and we hope that students will develop a greater understanding of the importance of these key skills as they progress and be able to permeate them through all lessons and there is a coherent focus on the SCRIPT theme within Biddenham; assessment (SCRIPT for Success), curriculum (SCRIPT for Learning) and as a central theme for all our staff development activity.
Script Experience Days began twelve months ago and since then there has been an ongoing process through which the delivery has been challenged by the staff. We are currently undergoing a discussion with student representatives from Year 10 and Year 11 to assist in this process.Employers, FE Institutions and apprenticeships require students to demonstrate a full range of PLTS and therefore the importance Biddenham International Sports College places on this is very high.
