Pastoral

At Biddenham, every student is placed into a tutor group when they enter year 9, which they will stay in throughout years 10 and 11. There is a 15 minute tutor period every day, where students see their tutor and follow a programme of personal, social & health education. Form tutors are the first point of contact between the school and home. Tutors aim to develop a positive working relationship with each student, in order to support them through their time at Biddenham. The support offered by tutors is tailored toward students' achievement in their Level 2 courses (GCSE/BTECs) as well as wider, pastoral support.

When students move into the Sixth Form they also move into new tutor groups. They will have a specialist sixth form tutor who is trained to support the students throughout these important years.

As part of our pastoral system, we also have a house system at Biddenham. Every student is placed into one of the five houses in year 9, and they will stay in this house for the duration of their time at Biddenham. Our house system aims to create smaller communities within the structure of our school, where every student will feel a strongly sense of belonging, team spirit and responsibility. The houses are groups where every student is valued and where every student is encouraged to value others for all the wonderful and varied ways that they can contribute to the team.

Please use the links on this page to find out more about each year team and our house system.
