Biddenham’s U14 basketball team kicked off their season yesterday (Wed 18 Jan) with a nail biting game against St. Thomas More. Biddenham were the first to find the net with Troy Bolton AKA Alex Bailey scoring with a lay up. Tommy More came right back however and equalled the score. Some fast breaks from Biddenham allowed Kwame Morris and Levi Scarlett to each add two points to the scoreboard before Tommy More did the same bringing the game level. With the time running out in the first quarter there was just enough time for Tyreke Clark and Bradley Hiron to get their names on the scorecard. Tommy More then made a strong push to ensure the first quarter finished in their favour. St. Thomas More 14 – Biddenham 12
The second quarter did not see as many baskets but an increase in Biddenham's defence. This meant that Tommy More were only able to find the net twice. Biddenham's Kwame Morris scored a rebounded jump shot to finish the first half St. Thomas Moore 18 – Biddenham 14
The beginning of the second half saw some lovely teamwork from Tommy More accompanied with some fantastic dribbling by their number 14 who managed to break Biddenham's defence a number of times. Kwame Morris and Levi Scarlett each added two points to keep Tommy More from running away with the game. St Thomas More 26 – Biddenham 18
Being eight points behind didn’t worry Biddenham and they went out all guns blazing. Marking their players much more closely meant that Biddenham stole the ball a number of times. This allowed Levi Scarlett to score three times and Tyreke Clark to score once. At this point Biddenham were level but with 5 personal fouls each Levi Scarlett and Alex Bailey retired to the bench. In a scrappy finish to the game, Tyreke Clark managed to break away from his defender twice to add four points. Unfortunately the team just could not find the net that one last time meaning the game finished St. Thomas Moore 32 – Biddenham 30
