U15 Girls' Tennis League Vs Bedford Girls' School

Print

The first of our summer tennis fixtures was always going to be a tough one. The already strong Bedford High team was now even stronger after it's merger with Dame Alice into Bedford Girls' School. For our girls it was their first time playing together after only 1 practice session, so the games were a big challenge. All of the girls played very well in very difficult conditions. Becky Ingram, stepping in last minute, did a great job along with Caitlin and Beth. However, Katie Saberi was unbelievable. She put in a fantastic performance and pulled off a well deserved win over Bedford Girls' number 1 tennis player, winning 7-6 after a tie-break. This is our first ever win against Bedford Girls' (Bedford High) and with all of the girls playing up 1 year the future of girls' tennis at Biddenham is looking very promising.

Well done girls. Keep up the good work.

U16 Girls' Rugby 09 Mar 2012

On Friday evening the Biddenham girls' rugby team made their debut against a very strong Wootton Upper School team. Despite being informed that the game would be a coached game, Wootton were very determined from the off making very strong tackles and convincing passes. Regardless of this however, Biddenham managed to hold the girls off from scoring for at least half of the game with fantastic tackles made by all. Kiah Powell showed extremely good technique throughout, narrowly missing out on a try in the first half after an impressive run from her own twenty-two. Unfortunately the girls lost 12-0 to Wootton after the second half but their overall effort and willingness throughout cannot go without a mention.

Player of the Evening: Kiah Powell

Well done again girls for such excellent efforts both on and off the pitch. Let’s keep this up for our next game after Easter.

Biddenham do Bedfordshire Proud

Biddenham’s Under 14 Boys' Hockey Team travelled to Stamford School on Tuesday 28th February to take part in the East of England Finals. Finishing second in the County Cup in January had secured the team’s place in the next round of the National competition and so Biddenham took their place alongside some of the best teams in the region to see who would be crowned best in the East.

Sixth Form Football Vs St. Thomas More

Print

The lads already have three wins from three games under their belts this year, so walked into this game full of confidence. A strong looking St. Thomas More side started well, and before Biddenham knew it they were 1-0 down to a good strike from the striker. The boys reacted well to going behind and started moving the ball around the pitch well. With Tim Larrier making a start for the team for the first time he bought a calm influence to the back four. A strong looking midfield of Zain, Nathan, Adam and Fabio were keeping the ball well, until St. Thomas More grabbed another goal to make it 2-0 at half time.

Year 9 Football Match Vs Knights Templar

Print

It was a windy Wednesday afternoon when the year 9 football team had to travel all the way to Baldock to play Knights Templar. We had never played them before so we didn't know what to expect but we played brilliantly and we showed we have the ability to pass the ball around beautifully.

We arrived at Baldock, knowing we wouldn't have trouble with bobbling balls as we were playing on a 3G pitch, fake grass. Knights Templar were already warming up and they looked like a good team. We were relieved to see them kicking a ball as we could have been playing Quidditch by the sound of their name.

The game started and we quickly got on top of them; they couldn't match our passing and we started quicker than normal. Suhayb was in goal as Aqeeb wasn't available and he adapted well to our style of play and had a good game. The back four lined up with Sam and Jack in the centre and Ibby and Ali on the left and right. The defence, as usual, was solid and their strikers found it hard to get past. They also made great passes through to the midfield and ignited our attacks. Ali played great at right back and, with his strength and speed, adapted to the new position well. Ibby was brilliant as well and his consistency shone through once again. He made some great passes and he read the game really well.
