Headline Information
Our 2011 GCSE Business results were the best ever for value-added, up by 2.9 on the previous year.
The AS results were also up on last year by 15%, with approximately one third of the group achieving an A or B grade.
Our A Level Business Studies results were 100% again this year.
Last year we began to offer BTEC Level 3 Business. From the group, eleven students gained the grade of a Distinction or above.
This is due to the work ethic of the students taking the subject and the support provided from within the department.
All members of our department are highly experienced and well qualified.
Information About the Department
- We have two dedicated multipurpose ICT classrooms, with projectors. Due to the popularity of the subject, we also use a range of other ICT labs and classrooms.
- Trips and visits to local organisations are arranged to enhance the learning experience of our students.
- Last year we took all our year 11 students to Thorpe Park.
- We tend to arrange an annual trip abroad for our sixth form students, developing their awareness of foreign languages, cultures and businesses.
- We are proud to offer GCSE, AS and A2 Business Studies, BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 Business and a Level 2 Personal Finance course.
- Our aim is develop our students' understanding of business as is an integral part of all our lives; whether we choose to go shopping, into self-employment or paid employment.
