Information About the Department

Our Sports facilities are exceptional with a sports hall, dance studio, fitness suite, Astroturf and field space, along with a dedicated computer suite for Physical Education and Sports lessons. Our extra curricular program offers the opportunity to take part in a vast array of physical activities. We provide opportunities for traditional physical education in the form of football, rugby, hockey, tennis, dance and netball, alongside the less traditional tchoukball, touch rugby, ultimate frisbee and disco badminton. We run regular school trips, which include wakeboarding, golf, climbing, surfing and annual ski & snowboarding and scuba diving trips, leadership tours to South Africa, to name a few.

Our curriculum both through the academic route (GCSE, BTEC and A Level) and the compulsory core Physical Education offers a personalised learning experience for all. For students who excel in leadership within sport, there is the opportunity to be part of the leadership academy. Within the academy they have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications in leadership.

We celebrate our students' success through a number of schemes. Each week, two students are nominated by PE staff to be our Athletes of the Week (the names go up on our website). Nominations can be offered due to commitment, effort or excellence in and outside the classroom. We also issue half and full School Sports colours, which are awarded to students who have represented the school and take part fully in the practices that are on offer at Biddenham. The achievements of the year are then celebrated during our National Sports Week and our annual Sports Presentation Evening, where all students' sporting achievements are celebrated.

There is a lot more information about sport at Biddenham in the PE and Sport section of this website.
