Arts Award Welcome School

Arts Award is a nationally recognised scheme that supports young people aged from 11 to 25 to develop as artists and art leaders.
Administered by the Arts Council and Trinity Guildhall, Arts Award is offered at three levels - Bronze, Silver and Gold. At all levels young people have the opportunity to directly engage with the world of arts and to develop their own artistic and communication skills.
As an Arts Award Welcome centre we can now assist young people and their advisors on achieving their arts potential. We have a fully trained asessors who are able to deliver the Bronze, Silver and Gold Levels as an additional qualification in the arts.

Artsmark Gold Award

Artsmark is a national award scheme managed by Arts Council England. The scheme, open to all schools in England, recognises schools with a high level of provision in the arts.
The Arts Council England has awarded Biddenham the highest award (Gold) in recognition of the school’s commitment to, and excellence in, arts education. To receive the Gold level, a school must dedicate a minimum of 15% curriculum time to qualify.
An Artsmark Gold school is also commited to teachers’ professional development and involvement with local artists and arts groups.

Healthy Schools

Healthy Schools enables and supports schools to plan and implement health and wellbeing improvements for children and young people.

Biddenham has adopted the Healthy Schools programme and promotes physical and emotional health by providing accessible and relevant information and equipping pupils and staff with the understanding, skills and attitudes to make informed decisions about their health.

International School Award

The International School Award is an accreditation scheme for curriculum-based international work in schools. The scheme allows Biddenham to be recognised for working to instill a global dimension into the learning experience of students. Biddenham achieved this award for the second time in 2011. It is valid for three years.

London 2012 Get Set Network

The Get Set network is a special community of schools and colleges which are:

• demonstrating a commitment to the Olympic Values (friendship, excellence and respect) and the Paralympic Values (inspiration, determination, courage and equality).

Youth Sport Trust

The Youth Sport Trust is an independent charity with a mission to build a brighter future for young people through PE and sport. This is focused on creating a world-leading PE and sport system that reaches, inspires and engages all young people – whatever their age or ability.

At Biddenham we are part of this network and use sport to raise standards, achievement and attainment across all subject areas. There is a growing belief that PE and school sport can make a major contribution to many agendas – educational achievement, public health, community cohesion and, of course, sporting performance at the highest level.

We are a Specialist Sports College and as such position PE & sport at the centre of the curriculum, using it as a vehicle to develop and improve learning opportunities for all.

Specialist Sports Colleges enhance young peoples' opportunities to participate in a wide range of sports as well as raising the standards of teaching & learning of PE and school sport.
